What to Pack If You're Going Home for Spring Break
Not all of us can be fortunate enough to go to Cancun for spring break. Some of us have to head back home for the week to either work, catch up on sleep, or keep hacking away at the semester’s assignments.
Either way, it’s important not to leave anything behind when packing for spring break. You may not be packing your swimsuit and sunglasses to go home, but there are some pretty essential items you don’t want to leave in your dorm. It’s a shame to leave something important behind in a dorm that is locked for the week.
Keys
Do not forget your keys over spring break! You probably already know the struggle of leaving your keys behind when your roommates are around. It’s even worse when you leave your keys behind over break. Then you have to arrange with your roommates who’s getting back when and who can let you into your room.
Many dorms and landlords will charge a fee to open the door for tenants who locked themselves out. So, save yourself the trouble and money and remember to pack your keys over spring break.
Clothing
This may be an obvious item on the list, but it’s definitely something you don’t want to forget when packing. You may have left some clothes at home and think that you don’t have to pack any. It’s better to stay safe than sorry. Your memory may be skewed as to what you have left at home.
Bring a few outfits with you, just in case.
Spirit Wear
Just because you aren’t on your college campus, doesn’t mean you can’t show your love for your school. Bring home your favorite sweatshirt or t-shirt with your school’s logo on it. As you walk around your hometown and go into the local stores, everyone will know exactly where you are going to school.
Be proud of your school! Show off your pride and represent while back home for a week.
Textbooks and Homework
It may be called spring break, but the work never stops. Your professors have probably assigned you some work over the break with the thought that you will have more time to complete it. This is definitely something you don’t want to leave at school.
Make sure you write down all of the assignments you need to get done during the week and make a list of the textbooks you’ll need to bring home with you. You may even want to get ahead of your classes, so don’t forget your syllabus.
Computer
College students are glued to their computers. They rarely leave the house without it! Save yourself the boredom and stress of not having your computer with you when you go home during the spring break and put it right in your bag. You don’t want to be limited to the family desktop when doing your homework or online shopping.
Chargers
What good is bringing your laptop with you when you forget your charger at school? Not good at all. Without your computer charger, you’ll be late on your school assignments and binge-watching Netflix will be a long gone memory.
The same thing goes for your phone charger. Though these are easier to replace than a computer, it’s still annoying. How will you keep in touch with your friends or scroll through Instagram without your phone? Save yourself the trouble and just make sure to pack all of your chargers.
Gym Clothes
If you consistently use your school’s gym, you don’t want to take a week off from working out. This can set you back tremendously if you have been working towards a specific goal. Maybe it’s lifting a certain weight or running a certain time on your mile. Whatever your goal is, you don’t want to lose your progress just because you aren’t at school.
Find some home workouts you can do or go for a run in your neighborhood. You’ll feel great once you get back to the gym.
Comfortable Clothes
Spring break shouldn’t just be about working, though. It’s a time for you to relax and unwind. Destress after the first half of the semester and just lounge around. Throw on your favorite sweatpants and send the day watching your favorite movies and eating popcorn. There’s no other way to relax than in comfortable clothes.
Start Making Your List
Now that you have a good idea of what to pack for spring break if you’re going home, what are you waiting for? Start making your packing list and check it twice. You don’t want to forget anything in a dorm that will be locked for the week. Don’t forget your keys, computer, charger, homework, clothes, and anything else you can’t live without.
